This idea came to me about 3 years ago, while on a family vacation to Branson, I came across the new bluegrass/gospel band, RedHead Express. I immediately fell in love with this family for several reasons. Firstly because they reminded me of my family when my sister and I were young and lived much of our lives on the road. My dad was a missionary to Tahiti but when we were in the U.S., we spent most of our time on the road, traveling from church to church attempting to gain support for our mission. We lived totally by faith so we often did not know what the future held for us. Another connection was the fact that my dad's family was raised in the Ozarks and we grew up listening to bluegrass and the old time gospel songs. All those childhood memories came rushing back to me as I listened to the Redhead Express sing those sweet lonesome Appalachian melodies. When I started thinking about my childhood, I began to reconsider all the dreams I had as a child and wonder why I had never accomplished any of them. I always wanted to pursue my art, but life had gotten in the way and so I became a teacher. Here was a large family that, in the middle of their lives, sold all their belongings, bought a motor home and traveled across the United States pursuing their dreams of becoming a family band. I was so insired by the Walkers that I took it upon myself to make each of the girls individualized jewelry sets that were designed to match their unique personalities. Apryll is the mother and I decided to call hers Dream Maker because she inspired me to pursue my own dreams and open up my Rock Patch Store.
Eventually, word got out that I can make really cool jewelry that is taylor made to one's personality and I have received orders from various people around the United States. In addition, one customer wanted a necklace that would represent her cause which was defending the rights of the unborn, which is the photo above named "Life Begins". So, If you have a specific passion or calling in mind, I would love to create a piece of jewelry that tells the story.
